Far East Explorations

We have had some glorious winter days here in Marlo recently and have made a real effort to get out and explore our area. There are lots of cool places to explore right on our door step and yet so many we haven’t seen yet,  we decided we should ease back on planning overseas adventures and look in our own backyard!

So we headed to Point Hicks lighthouse for a weekend of hiking and camping and it was fabulous! We hiked the sand dunes, had a tour of the lighthouse and hiked up Mt Everard for a spectacular 360 view! We cooked dinner on our portable BBQ, sat by the fire and slept in the swag under the stars.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAonce we got over the dunes instead of following the walking track back to camp we decided to surf a dune down to the river and follow it back. little did we know how dense the bush was and steep the bank was. We bush bashed and made our way back in one piece.

On a few other weekends we have gotten out the maps and picked out a fire tower and ridden gravel roads to it, left the bikes at the bottom and hiked up. I took some great photos but I lost my phone in the dunes in Marlo on a hike and have lost the photos!!
