Quick update on last weekend’s adventures:
I was sick with the dreaded loogy floating around town, stayed on the couch most of the time, got into footy finals, read some books and tried to relax/recover.
Al mapped out a course with some mates for a bikepacking race he is in the middle of organising, they drove 45 minutes out to the starting point to discover Al’s tyre had been burnt by the exhaust. Rookie error.
Didn’t do a whole lot of riding during the week, just trying to get over this flu thing which now Al has (un)conveniently also got. Not ideal so close to HuRT but at least we should be over it by the time we are at the start line.
This weekend we focused on finalising our gear, we have spent many hours over the past 12 months discussing gear options, saddle bag or camelbak, gastank or chaff bag, so many options and so unsure of which will be best suited to HuRT. We are both feeling nervous about this ride but looking forward to the adventure!
I will do a full write up of gear list for those interested later on in the week!! No doubt whichever option I choose there will be times I wish I chose the other option!!
Amongst the final planning and gear testing we managed to hang out with friends, cruise the estuary on the SUP, celebrate a birthday and watch another magical Marlo sunset.
Life is good and I look forward to experiencing the HuRT!! My next post will be a gear writeup and links to the HuRT tracking page where you can follow us online!!
